Hi everyone! If you are wondering what made CBS axe one of its best shows, then you are not the only one who is doing so. The news about the cancellation of The Unit has shocked every fan of the show, as it was expected that the show would be revived for a fifth season. What prompted CBS to take such a drastic decision about the vastly popular drama series, The Unit, remains a mystery.
CBS cannot even put up the lame excuse of poor ratings, as the reason behind this thoughtless decision since the series has been having very stable ratings. The Unit had built a strong fan base within a short span of its premiere in March 2006. The overall average viewership per episode, amounted to about 10-15 million. So it definitely was not a show which ought to have been cancelled as there was no downslide in ratings.

What surprised the people even more was the fact that there was not even a single rumor about the cancellation of The Unit. The series finished airing yet another successful season that is Season 4, only days ago, and it was a general assumption that it would get another season. The fact that the show was amongst the Top 30 series aired on all networks, seemed to confirm the belief.
If the show was not axed due to ratings, then the only other possible reason could be its budget. Networks now favor renewing shows that have been created by sister or in-house production companies, so that they can save a few more dollars. CBS had already asked all its shows to reduce the production costs. So the only plausible reason behind canceling The Unit is that it appears expensive to produce.
But has nobody at CBS come across the idiom “Looks can be deceptive”! I am saying this, because The Unit was actually produced at less than $3 million per episode, which is about half the amount it takes to produce many primetime series. So probably, CBS was worried that since the show was being produced by 20th Century Fox, the network would not be able to benefit much from the syndication.
But whatever be the reason, the fact remains that The Unit has been cancelled!

Hey friends! This month has been quite important for one of the prominent cast members of The Unit tv show. Regina Taylor, who is an Artistic Associate of Goodman Theatre, has come up with her latest presentation named Magnolia. The story of Magnolia is set in 1963, in an era when Georgia is going through one of the worst economic crisis. The story revolves around Lilly and Thomas who try to save their lands and magnolia trees etc. Although Regina has been busy with The Unit for quite some time now, it is however, not the first time that she is working for theatre. In fact, the actress was seen in the staged reading of Fences in 2007 and her other earlier credits for the Goodman theatre include The Dreams of Sarah Breedlove, Crowns, Oo-Bla-Dee and many more. Regina, whom we know as Molly Blane on The Unit, has always been known as one of the better actresses of the modern times and with her various talents she is definitely a step ahead of her contemporaries. Although she does not have a very lengthy role in The Unit, Regina has been appreciated for making her presence felt through her strong onscreen presence.

The Unit has been noted for being an out and out action drama which focuses mainly on the lives of some special force operatives fighting against crime. It has also been said that there is no scope for strong performance by female members of the cast. However, I feel that the length of a role is irrelevant as long as it is significant in the overall storyline. And keeping this in consideration, I feel that all the female cast members can make their presence felt, even though they do not have quite lengthy roles. And as stated earlier in this site, the writers surely must put in some efforts to present the ladies as strong women instead of highlighting their insecurities and weaknesses. But anyways, I love the concept and the storyline of The Unit, which is currently airing its Season 4 and I wish that it continues to show us the odds that are faced by the soldiers who try to ensure that we are safe and risk everything for the same.

Hey folks! We all love the series named The Unit but I am sure that like me you all must also have wondered why the women on the show have been portrayed as weak, uninspiring and silly who are always victimized. I mean come on, they are supposed to be the wives of smart, strong and fearless covert operatives and it would look better if their wives were portrayed as confident, smart and capable. Although the wives individually have their own strengths and weaknesses yet overall they come across as failures as everything they do seems to backfire on their faces. I wonder why these ladies can’t do something that turns out to be really successful. I feel, apart from Molly, there is no female character on the show who has been able to impress the audience. Although Kim and Tiffy are other major female characters on the show, they are not really able to capture the heart of the audience. While Kim is always whining and complaining, Molly is unable to manage her own life and she is always a victim.

Personally I feel that the actresses are not to be blamed as they are really good at their task, but even they can’t change a dumb character into a smart one. So basically it is the writers who are at fault as they are the ones who have created such dull and spiritless characters to be the wives of heroic soldiers. As a result the audience doesn’t like to see the females on the show and are interested only in the men in action, taking down the bad guys. I personally feel the same and I think that if the female characters continue to be so lifeless, I would not like to see them even in alternate episodes. So writers do put some life and liveliness into the better halves of the soldiers who are risking their lives to keep the common man from being troubled by anti–social elements. And please WAKE UP before it is too late!

Jonas Blane heads the team on ‘The Unit’ and he’s one of the most active and intelligent members of the team. Molly Blane is his wife and has a daughter with her. He’s known for his good accent of Spanish, French, German and Persian languages. His team members often call him Top and his accomplishments are, of course, goals which every team member tries to achieve. In all episodes of ‘The Unit’, we see him guiding the new comers and the experienced team members as well. Well, I think he does everything what we can expect from a main character of any TV show.
Dennis Haysbert has African American ancestry and the character he plays, Jonas Blane is also an African American. That’s pretty cool! More interestingly, Regina Taylor, portraying his wife, Molly Blane is also an African American. Isn’t it really cool…. because how many black families have you seen leading a TV show? Hardly, two or three, I dare say! So, it’s great to see two black persons leading such a wonderful and interesting TV show ‘The Unit’.

How intelligently and smartly they both are performing their respective roles! Jonas guides men on hair-raising missions and Molly solves the troubles of the wives of the team members living on the base. They both have a very good understanding and we see an ideal couple leading the way!
For me, Jonas is the man who made ‘The Unit’ so popular and interesting as well. Series has a fantastic plot and of course, writers are trying to add more and more entertaining stuff to the show! But, but, but…. The actual credit goes to the ones who portray the characters! Hats off to the whole crew of ‘The Unit TV show’.
Okay, do you have any speculation regarding the next season of show? Well, we don’t have as there’s no news by the network or the show representatives. Whatever…. Guesses are that series will surely have two or three seasons more. It means we’ll watch it till 2010. It’s just a guess; let’s see what they people have to say about season 5 of ‘The Unit’.

‘The Unit’ is currently running with season 4 and next episodes of series are scheduled to be aired in January 2009. Well, being a hardcore fan of the show, I am very crazy for the upcoming episodes of the show. After the latest episode ‘Switchblade’… expectations from next episodes are really on the peak.
Okay, have you ever thought what makes you attached to a particular drama? As I think, it’s the plot and characters of the show which make you fall in love with the show. Absolutely, this is the case with ‘The Unit’. Throughout its four season long run, I liked all episodes of the show and everyone was by all odds better than the previous one! What more can be expected? I think it’s the extreme of success that creators and viewers can think for a drama like ‘The Unit’.

In every episode, team goes on a mission and investigates the case to rescue the innocents and to punish the guilty. Moreover, their wives deal with the everyday family matters on the base. Leading the team is Sergeant Major Jonas Blane and leading the group of wives is his wife Molly Blane. ‘The Unit’ also gives a closer view of what every middle class family may come to deal with.
Other most important characters on series are: Bob Brown, the newest member of the team; Colonel Tom Ryan, Mack Gerhardt, Kim Brown, and Tiffy etc. Guest characters are introduced at times to make the plot interesting. Wholly, ‘The Unit’ has secured a strong fan base and hopefully, its popularity and success will go on increasing as series goes with new episodes. Nowadays, fans are waiting eagerly for the remaining episodes of the fourth season, yeah, me too! I’ll catch you later with my reviews on the upcoming episodes of ‘The Unit’. Stay connected!

Welcome back after the Christmas!
I hope, you must have enjoyed your self. Well, I had a rocking weekend.
Did you catch ‘Switchblade’ on December 21, 2008? Although I was very busy in Christmas’ party preparations, but I watched this episode and found it very interesting. It was a respectable one and was not of the quality of the classics we’ve seen throughout the season. We’re happy for Kim reuniting with her kids.

Jonas and the whole team forced an arrogant Department of Defense official into joining them on an assignment. Their sole mission was to make him observe war up close and personal. Wholly, it was an interesting and enjoyable episode but what I didn’t like was the title of the episode. It had a mix of everything. I think ‘Switchblade’ was not an appropriate title. It might be ‘Into trap’ or something like ‘Finally, hunted down’… LOL! Well, if you’ve missed this marvelous episode, you can watch it online or can download the episode here!

What’s next? Actually, now we buddies will see ‘The Unit’ in 2009. Series’ next episode entitled ‘Bad Beat’ will be aired on January 4, 2009. I know what’ gonna happen next? Here’s a little glimpse for you- in this episode, we’ll see Jonas playing a game of Baccarat with a CIA agent. And, the twist would be- if Jonas will win the game, the agent will help the team on their current mission. Now, the thing to see is whether or not Jonas will win it? Well, more than 100% chances are that he’ll win! Let’s see……
Next episode is ‘The Spear of Destiny’. Here, we’ll meet with the team on a mission, very usual! Things will go awry when Mack will get badly injured. Ultimately, they will take shelter in a monastery. Bob will get a new and very dangerous assignment which will make Kim realize how tough his job is? Get ready to catch the upcoming episodes of ‘The Unit’. Here, you can have the old episodes of all seasons, click if want to watch now!
